Comment on Political Participation - Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Treaty

This contribution focuses on the general implementation of Article 29 of the Covention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, protecting the ability for disabled persons to participate in the public and political life.

The contribution aims to shape the Committee's interpretation of Article 29 to (1) increasingly consider civic education programmes; (2) give attention to municipal elections and decision-making positions to ensure persons have proper human and financial resources; and (3) consider political party culture in stifling the nomination of disabled women to decision-making positions.
